SAI 6
The SAI 6 scope is an excellent low power variable optic. I just received my second one after having the first for about eight months. I was originally attracted to the model because it was offered by the same company as my Tangent Theta precision riflescopes. The quality of the SAI optics and the scope’s tracking are of course superb as can be expected from the source, but what really pleased me is the “Rapid Aiming Feature” (RAF) reticle with its very distinct pointers at 30 degrees from the horizontal that point at the center crosshairs. Because the reticle in a first focal plane scope gets smaller as the power is reduced, that can make it difficult to see the center aiming point at low powers. The usual remedy is to make the center illumination bright enough to be seen in daylight, and to make the center of the reticle very large and obvious, as is common with the “horseshoe” or circle types. The problems with those approaches are that the coarse center makes precise aiming at small targets using high power difficult, and battery illumination is a must. The RAF reticle cures both problems. Even though the center cross becomes very small at low power, the pointers are still readily visible, and direct one’s eye to the center. That works well for rapid engagements at closer ranges without the need for bright illumination; in fact, I never use the illumination feature in daylight. Second, the center cross of the reticle is still fine enough at full 6 power magnification to permit exact aiming at small targets. During my last training session I center hit a 12oz soda can at 150 yards with my first shot by precisely aiming at the bottom to adjust for the trajectory. Large, coarse reticle features make that sort of thing more difficult. That I am glad I discovered this optic is a gross understatement.

Q: How is the reticle calibrated?
A: The 5.56mm reticle is calculated using 62gr M855 ammunition from a 16” M4 barrel. The 7.62mm reticle is a blended reticle, using data from 147gr M80 and 168gr match ammunition from a 20” AR10 barrel.
Q: What parts of the reticle illuminate?
A: The crosshairs illuminate for a brilliant aim point through the whole magnification range, the Rapid Aiming Feature does not.
Q: What does the optic come with?
A: The optic comes equipped with Tenebraex scope covers and KillFLASH ARD, LensPen, Battery.
Q: How do I know the optic is authentic?
A:Armament Technology has been in business for over 30 years and is the master distributer for SAI Optics. If you are purchasing from the Armament Technology Amazon store, we ensure the authenticity of the optic.
Q: Does it come with a mount?
A: No, you will have to provide a mount of your choice.
