Elcan SpecterDR 1-4 Legacy
The SpecterDR 1-4 Legacy Dual Role Optical Sight represents a revolution in optical sight design. The world’s first truly dual field of view combat optical sight, the SpecterDR switches instantly from a 4x magnified sight to a 1x CQB sight with the throw of a lever. Unlike zoom sights, the SpecterDR offers an optimized optical path and identical eye relief in both 4x and 1x modes.
Depending upon the situation, the user may adjust the sight to illuminate the crosshair or just a brilliant red dot in the center. In 1x mode, the SpecterDR has by far the largest field of view in the industry. In 4x mode the SpecterDR offers a generous field of view, long eye relief, and ELCAN’S legendary crystal clear image.
The SpecterDR 1-4 Legacy offers the best single solution for both Medium Range and CQB engagements and is designed to withstand the rigors of modern professional use.
Optional XOPTEK™ Micro Reflex Sight
Now add the XOPTEK™ Micro Reflex Sight as an included option on your SpecterDR 1-4. The XOPTEK™ Micro Reflex Sight is designed as a lightweight rapid aiming device for pistols and carbines and as an auxiliary sight for long-range magnified optical sights. In operation, the sight projects a brilliantly illuminated red dot into the user's field of view to act as a precise aiming point for close to mid-range targets.

Elcan Specter DR 1-4x 5.56
The optic is well made, robust and very solid. Durability is a non-issue as it was made with a military end user in mind. If you get the adjustable ARMS levers, you can fine tune the lockup to your rail when mounting the optic. The eyebox is pretty tight, similar to an Accupoint 1-4 on 4x but at both 1x and 4x, this isn’t too noticeable if you have a stock with a wide cheek piece that gives you a consistent cheek weld like a B5 SOPMOD. Eye relief is also fairly short, so I have to run the optic with the base flush to the end of the receiver and the adjustable stock 1 position out from the closest for optimal eye relief. Even so, the optic can absolutely be run quickly like a red dot. The biggest con for me was the lack of an adjustable diopter. Those with mild to severe near sightedness will probably struggle seeing the reticle without their glasses, which can introduce problems if the intended use is home defense or SHTF where you may not have fast easy access to prescription glasses. If this optic had an adjustable diopter, or even a clip-on diopter, it would be nearly perfect and would warrant a 5 star score, but since time and aging is something that cannot be avoided, it would be nice to future-proof your optic so that older shooters can continue to enjoy their investment without the need for glasses. in summary, this optic is a very good choice for those who want an optic with military pedigree, who want fast transition between magnification levels, have good vision, are building a rifle where light weight isn’t the primary goal, want an optic that looks cool as hell, and don’t mind running a stock with a wide cheek rest and getting a solid cheek weld when using the optic.

Nothing Else I’d Rather Use
Great quality, great optic. Most importantly, it looks cool on block II build. 10/10 would buy again.

Awesome Optic
After 3 days of comparing the SpecterDR 1x/4x vs. Eotech HWS EXPs3-0 with Eotech Magnifier G43, I come to the concluding that the Elcan system is the by far bettering integrated solution. Handling is easier, aiming is easier and faster and the red dot on top is a game changer.

Elcan Specter DR
Nice glass and reticle. Eye relief isn’t great but I guess that’s the trade-off for good glass and a nicely illuminated reticle. Quick detach mount is solid. Love it.

There's a reason it's still around. Does what it does without issue.
